In 2023 Verre Industrie celebrates its 70th anniversary! The machining of small glass parts, a historical activity

At the end of the 1950s, the weakness of glass production led Verre Industrie to specialize in the manufacture of small-sized parts requiring less raw material.

This positioning gave it a special place in the world of glass processors from that time.

Today, our know-how and our fleet of machining centers allow us to manufacture very small parts:

– from 5 x 5 mm or diameter 5 mm

– thickness from 0.5 mm

– tolerance from +/- 0.05 mm

– all types of glass

At your disposal for your future projects.

Renewal of our R43 certification

Verre Industrie has successfully passed its R43 certification renewal audit.

This standard allows the manufacture of tempered glass for cars, buses, ambulances, hearses, motorhomes, vans, special vehicles, airport tractors, trams, tourist trains, cranes and cabins etc… and from 3.5 mm thickness.

Deployment of the CTA (Cherenkov Telescope Array) telescope

This year, in collaboration with the french CEA, Verre Industrie is supplying hexagonal machined glass for the production of the mirrors of the 110 telescopes from 4 to 23 m in diameter for the CTA project.

We were selected for our ability to perform high-precision machining in a reproducible way.

The CTA is the world’s first observatory dedicated to the study of very high energy gamma rays.

In 2023 Verre Industrie celebrates its 70th anniversary!

From Pyrex® to Borofloat®.

Since the mid-1960s, Verre Industrie has been processing borosilicate glass, originally under the Pyrex® brand and now under the Borofloat® name.

Today, it is used in particular in pharmacy, chemistry, medicine, the construction of furnaces, aeronautics or optics.

Borofloat® has a low coefficient of expansion.

It is distinguished by excellent resistance

– thermal (up to 500°)

– mechanical

– chemical attacks.

Practically without absorption in the visible spectrum (T>90%) and the infrared, Borofloat® has a very high level of transparency and remains practically colorless.

Verre Industrie does process Borofloat® in all its forms and in all common thicknesses.
