Verre Industrie is everywhere

On 13 November 2023, the new RER-NG carried its first passengers on line E between Haussmann-Saint-Lazare and Chelles-Gournay in Paris area.

Also on board were several types of glass manufactured by Verre Industrie, including

protective glass for passenger information systems and protective glass for surveillance cameras.

Verre Industrie is proud to be part of this magnificent project.

“What makes the price of my glass?” is one of the most frequently asked questions.

In addition to the size of the glass and the quantity, other factors have an influence:

 – The type of glass: soda-lime, borosilicate, aluminosilicate or quartz are all materials with very different prices per m2.

– The shape: a complex shape and/or tight tolerances require the use of a machining centre, which increases the price of your glass.

– Edge: a simple finish can be produced manually. A machined or polished finish requires additional work, which has an impact on the price.

– Tempering: if the glass is subjected to heat, pressure or mechanical stress, thermal or chemical tempering is required.

– Additional operations such as screen printing, laminating or assembly add to the cost of the glass.
